Who You Should Follow on G+ to Keep Up with Google!!
Welcome to part 3 in the series: The Guide to Keeping Up with Google! In this post, I am sharing who and what to follow on Google+. If you have never ventured into the Google+ platform, now is the time to take a look. Google+ offers its own unique take on social media and a unique way to connect with other educators–especially those of the Googley variety! Google+ is not Facebook, and I think that’s why I like it so much. You can follow and add people to circles, giving you a way to categorize your interests and contacts. Although Google has broken out some of the various pieces inside of Google+, like Hangouts and Photos, it remains a vibrant learning ecosystem for those that are so inclined. They’ve even added some new features this year, like collections, allowing you to curate content on Google+.

People often ask me to compare Google+ to Twitter. My answer, “Apples and Oranges.” Twitter is a mainstay of my PLN, but Google+ offers a significant twist on connecting. G+ tends to be much more visual and allow you thread your conversations a little more easily. But the biggest selling point is the communities (more on this in Part 4). Google+ is just a different platform, so you will not get an either/or type of answer from me. I frequently share to multiple social media platforms. Follow my Shake Up Learning page on Google+.
