Back to School Finds for Teachers

AI Tools That Actually Save You Time

These sessions skip the AI hype and get straight to the workflows: planning, differentiation, communication, all the stuff that eats your evenings.

AI in the Classroom: How Teachers Are Saving Time and Teaching Better with Cammie Kannekens covers how TeachAid generates standards-aligned units, IEP accommodations, and assessments in minutes.

Amping Up Literacy Instruction with MagicSchool with Sarah McKinney explores AI-generated decodable texts, scaffolded differentiation, and higher-level questions for early childhood and elementary literacy.

Work Smarter, Not Harder: Meet Your New AI Teaching Assistant with Ashley Shanley shows how NotebookLM turns a folder of PDFs into study guides, lesson hooks, and even podcast-style “Deep Dives.”

Personalize Student Learning Opportunities with Gemini! with Mesha Daniel walks through prompting, Google Classroom integration, and building videos with voiceovers in minutes.

Building Your Digital Command Center with Notion with Jeff Bradbury sets up one customizable workspace for lessons, coaching cycles, and daily workflows, no Notion experience needed.

Happy Campers: Keeping Parents in the Loop with Automated Communication with Paige (Courtney) Smith uses Autocrat to turn spreadsheet rows into personalized parent updates automatically.

AI for Deeper Thinking, Not Shortcuts

If you’re worried AI is making student work shallower, these sessions are about using AI to build critical thinking and real creation instead of replacing it.

Creation in a World of AI with Joe & Kristen Merrill blends tried-and-true tools with AI so students move beyond consuming and into creating.

Eduprotocols and AI Tools: Even Better, Even Faster! with Jon Corippo pairs Eduprotocols with AI tools like Snorkl and Curipod for immediate feedback loops.

Tired of Student AI Slop? Solve It with the Assessment Puzzle Toolkit with Lindy Hockenbary shares a free 20-page toolkit for redesigning assessments so original thinking shows back up.

Beyond the Bot: Turning AI into a Tool for Curiosity and Critical Thinking with Tara Altherr introduces the CARE framework for using AI as a thinking partner instead of an answer machine.

Monster Making Machine: A Creepy CompSci Lab + AI Differentiation with Marci Klein is a hands-on CS lesson, plus how AI can turn one lesson into multiple versions for diverse learners.

Google & Creative Tools Worth a Second Look

New Ways to Love Google with Crystal Nolen moves past daily Google use into what the tools can actually do.

Hit Me With Your Best Design: Adobe Express in Action! with Elaina Kloecker covers content-aligned templates and guided activities with built-in AI guardrails for student work.

Instructional Design, Wellbeing & Leadership

Not everything this summer was about AI. These sessions tackle burnout, lesson design, and how PD itself should work.

[Rethinking Teacher PD: Flexible, High-Impact Strategies to Empower Your Staff](BLOG URL NEEDED) with Kasey Bell makes the case for why “one-size-fits-all” PD doesn’t work and what to build instead.

Reducing Teacher Burnout through Learner Agency with Jake Miller introduces the “Salad Night Strategy” for shifting workload off teachers and onto student ownership.

From Overwhelmed to Intentional: Designing High-Impact Lessons That Actually Stick with Kim Voge offers a framework for simplifying planning while raising rigor and engagement.

Defeating the Forgetting Curve: Accelerating Math Mastery Through Strategic Spaced Practice with Lisa Nowakowski applies the Ebbinghaus Forgetting Curve and Hattie’s Effect Size to daily math practice.
